Legislation could be introduced in the Middle East which would lead to the end of landfill waste management, the CEO of an electronic recycling company has said.

In an interview with Arabian Business TV, Dominic Gothard said the aim of his company and partners was to reuse and refurbish all electronic goods and give them to charities.

The Foundation said it had recently partnered with Dubizzle and Choitrams. Nellie Nour, communications manager at Dubizzle, said: “We at Dubizzle.com, a community business that deals extensively with technology and hardware, understand the great implications of e-waste on the local and international environment.

"One of our primary corporate goals is to take part in reversing this negative effect by being a key player in responsible recycling of e-waste. We couldn't think of a better organization to partner with than The Green Foundation who have proven very successful, active and efficient in the region and have played a major role in achieving our, and a lot of other organizations' CSR objectives.”

LT Pagarani, chairman of Choithrams, added: "With this level of integration into the fabric of the UAE it is important to Choithrams to help preserve not only the local environment but also our greater responsibility to assist those less fortunate than ourselves. I am proud to say that this unique method of electronic recycling serves all these purposes in one, and I look forward to a long term roll out of these proposition."
