my company took the totally opposite approach. during the recession i've been travelling more than ever before - often 3 or 4 countries a week - and now the company is doing quite well with some new international clients (we are a pr firm). the truth is that during tough times your clients need reassurance and if you dont get out there and meet them them face to face who's to day you wont loose that business?

Dear Mr. McGinley:
Contrary to your report, IFA has not completed Golden Mile. Buildings 5 & 6 are not handed over. There is no word regarding the handover either. They maintain that their work is done but that it is Nakheel's fault for not providing the completion certificate.
Their CRM refuses to provide any real answers and they simply stopped replying to emails.
Quite frustrating since they have 100% of buyer/investor funds and are in breach of contract.

I agree with most of the comments. I'm actually convinced that similar problems will continue to appear in the future and that Etisalat has nothing to worry about as long as the market is being monopolized by them (of course du & Etisalat are one company).. As long as there is no real competition between telecom companies in the UAE the customer will always pay the heavy price... I believe Etisalat must be banned and forbidden from entering and operating within other markets like Egypt for example unless the UAE opens its market for fair competition and allow other service providers to enter the UAE market!!! I believe that we are being taken for granted since we have no choice.. It is very sad and unjust, I love the UAE and I hope to see it march forward not backward, because competition means more choices, better services, innovation, development and eventually higher client satisfaction for both locals and expats, competition means more love and respect for the UAE and its leadership, it means a healthier community, better country ratings globally, better tourism and economy.
I hope someone with authority reads my comment and takes action.
God bless the UAE

I am totally agreed with the comment of Mr. Bya, I am also a victim of $1.33 share price of DP world I lost AED 50k at this price. DFM and Nasdaq must have to laid down the proper guidelines for the companies entering the exchange market while they have a great example of Tamweel.

I'll be down from Dubai with the kids when the recession allows... though I assume prices will not be as ridiculous as Wild Wadi and Atlantis... a major Draw..

Nobody has mentioned about the exempted categories at all. Look at the text of the bill carefully.4. (1) An individual shall be resident in India in any financial year, if he is in India—
(a) for a period, or periods, amounting in all to one hundred and eighty-two days
or more in that year; or
(b) for a period, or periods, amounting in all to—
(i) sixty days or more in that year; and
(ii) three hundred and sixty-five days or more within the four years immediately preceding that year.
(2) The provisions of clause (b) of sub-section (1) shall not apply in respect of an
individual who is—
(a) a citizen of India and who leaves India in that year as a member of the crew of an Indian ship; or
(b) a citizen of India and who leaves India in that year for the purposes of employment outside India.
It clearly exempts sailors and persons who go out of the country for employment purposes. The analysts have goofed up in their interpretations.

Apart from Dubai is "fine", a word on the comment "Delhi was not the cleverest choice for hosting CWG". Actually Delhi walahs chose the CWG. The stakes are very high for them; a budget of $ 1.3 Billion. Everything was delayed purposely and that is how the spends overshoots the budget. We are not bothered about who wins how many medals etc. as all these things are useless. How many of us remember last CWG opening ceremony or who attended the inauguration. Jai Ho! Jai Delhi!

I moved to another building in Dubai, Etisalat told me that Shamil was no longer available for new subscription, and that my only option was e-life (much more expensive)

The author might not have noticed your comment, as i presume she will be busy writing new stories. You can email her by clicking on her name; so that she will correct the error/ mistake. If she is sure; then she can further tell that Tom Cruise does have an Oscar.

I have recently moved to a building on Sheikh Zayed Road, I wanted to keep my Shamil subscription but Etisalat said that they could only offer E-life (of course much more expensive!), and that they are not offering Al Shamil anymore, which they said will stay available to existing subscribers only.

If we go by the theory, to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, then the perpetrators of this cyber war need to worry for their the security of its own industrial control systems.
