As CEO of international stock exchange NASDAQ Dubai, Jeff Singer is responsible for overseeing the emirate's international bourse, which lists equities, equity derivatives, structured products, sukuks or Islamic bonds, and conventional bonds.
In June, Dubai Financial Market became the majority owner of NASDAQ Dubai through an acquisition of shares from Borse Dubai and NASDAQ OMX, the international exchange group.
The American executive took over as CEO in July 2008 after previously serving as senior vice president and head of international for NASDAQ in New York, a role that involved managing international relationships with companies outside the Americas. Earlier in his career, Singer maintained NASDAQ's market position on the east coast of America, as well as in Canada, Bermuda and Latin and South America.
In the role, Singer led a team of directors responsible for attracting new business, client retention and assisting issuers with fiduciary duties for public listings. Singer has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a degree in international finance from Brigham Young University.
