Welcome to our first ever listing of the GCC's most admired bosses - and what a list it is. From HRH Prince Alwaleed to Emaar chairman Mohammed Alabbar, and Akbar Al Baker of Qatar Airways to Wadah Khanfar, the director general of Al Jazeera International, this really is a list of the best of the best.
So how have we done it? Over the past three months, CEO Middle East has been looking at all types of businesses across the GCC, both private and public companies.
We examined more than 300 companies, and have looked for outstanding performances, not just in profit but in various areas: revenue, margins, order books, innovation, research and development, technology, leadership and branding.
We have considered the various parts that make a business a success, and within those parts picked out our outstanding performances. They may not always be the biggest and most profitable companies, but in our view, their bosses are doing something special. That is what makes them amongst the most admired executives in the region.
