Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) chairman Mattar Al Tayer scooped the prestigious Man of the Year award at Monday night’s CEO Middle East Awards.
Al Tayer received the award in recognition of his completing the Dubai Metro project earlier this month, after what the judges described as a “fabulous achievement that has required incredible leadership".
Al Tayer was one of 14 business leaders honoured at the ceremony, held at Dubai’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
Meanwhile, the vice president of the Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation, Leila El Solh, was honoured for her outstanding work with the “Businesswoman of the Year” Award. The judges described her work as being of “global significance".
The event featured a keynote address from Arabtec boss Riad Kamal, who also received a special Lifetime Achievement Award.

He certainly the Man of the Year. The great job done by RTA has touched many and families are happy that bread winner comes home early to spend quality time with the family. Hope Green Line comes on track faster.
He is a go getter and great planner.

By any yard-stick, RTA has done a good job, be it work related to reducing traffic bottlenecks or Metro. Yes, some things could have been done better, but over all, it is well deserved recognition.
