Welcome to the Property Power – CEO Middle East’s list of the Arab world’s most influential leaders in property. For the first time we are publishing the definitive list of Arab men and women shaping the world’s skyline.

Topping the list is Emaar’s Mohammed Alabbar, one of the region’s most well-known businessmen. As the chairman of the Middle East and Africa’s largest property developer by assets, Alabbar has played a key role in the development of Dubai’s real estate sector as well as aboard. The real estate powerhouse was hit hard by the nearly 50 percent declines in Dubai property prices. But January marked the opening of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. The following month it reported its full year profits increased 98 percent year on year.

In second position is UAE businessman Khalaf Al Habtoor, founder of the Dubai-based Al Habtoor Group. The group, which employs more than 40,000 staff, has built some of the emirate’s most iconic projects including the Burj Al Arab, Madinat Jumeirah, and his own five-star hotel, the Habtoor Grand in Dubai Marina.
