As carriers go, they don't come much more bullish than Qatar Airways, the flagship airline of the Gulf's fastest growing state.
As executive vice president of Qatar Airways commercial arm, Bart Vos is responsible for the daily running of a carrier with 84 aircraft flying to 92 destinations around the world; a number likely to hit more than 100 in 2011.
It is also one of the biggest aviation customers on the market, with more than $30bn-worth of planes on order. At the recent Farnborough Air Show, Qatar Airways inked a $90m deal for two Bombardier Global 5000 aircraft, and an additional $501m order for two Boeing 777-200 LRs. All this from a carrier less than thirteen years old.
An industry veteran, Vos worked with a string of aviation brands including KLM, before taking up his role with Qatar Airways in June 2009. He reports directly to the carrier's CEO, Akbar Al Baker.
