AMESCON conference a Triumph

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum honoured the conference with his presence and performed the opening ceremony on 14th March.

In what was a first for such an event, the conference drew Surgical Societies and participants from more than 30 countries to Dubai to both share their knowledge and to discuss and discover new developments in their fields. Matters covered included; endocrine surgery, hernia surgery, vascular surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, surgical gastroenterology, bariatric and metabolic surgery, trauma and cosmetic surgery. With such a wide scope of topics, attendees were assured of finding much to interest them. Surgical workshops, master classes, poster sessions, panel discussions and keynote speeches also contributed to the huge interest in the conference.

The highly esteemed Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, UK., held an admission ceremony conferring membership of the college upon surgeons successful in the MRCS examination and the International College of Surgeons awarded fellowships. Retired surgeons of note from the region were also recognised with special achievement awards for their outstanding contributions to medicine.

On the back of the success of this conference, it is envisioned that it will become an annual event.
