Sharjah Health Authority streamlines health insurance policies for its government employees

Sharjah, UAE, April 4th, 2016: The health insurance department of Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) conducted an exhaustive training session for all the human resource and finance heads of various departments to further educate them on health insurance policies. The authority has already streamlined the health insurance policies of over 57,200 government employees including their dependents.
Under the directive of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in 2012, Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) was entrusted with the task of restructuring the health insurance policies of various Sharjah Government departments. SHA was to act as a facilitator to negotiate for a unified cover for all members at a better price and more benefits by forming a dedicated Health Insurance Department.
The workshop comprised of a presentation by representatives from SHA including Mrs. Amel Al Qatari – Head of Health Insurance Department who touched upon various topics which included health insurance system for the Sharjah Government employees. The questions were addressed by the Mrs. Amel and the insurance company representatives.
“The training reflects the authority’s efforts to educate government employees of Sharjah on best health-care insurance practices and standards, which will greatly contribute towards SHA’s move to raise its standards to excellence in service. SHA has been a powerful dynamic catalyst between the insurance agency and the government employees in order to provide the later with the best possible insurance cover scheme to address their medical needs,” said Mrs. Amel.
“The health insurance is in place since 2012 for all the Sharjah Government employees and their dependents. The social welfare card holder’s scheme is also managed by this department which is meant for Sharjah citizens who are not covered under the medical insurance scheme of the government employees,” concluded Mrs. Amel.
The SHA implements its various healthcare projects in the light of its carefully researched strategy aimed at creating an excellent healthcare sector backed by the latest international experts in various healthcare areas, consistent with the unlimited support received from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The authority has already made significant strides in this direction, including the Sharjah Healthcare City, which is under formation, and is moving ahead to achieve the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.
