Al Jaber Group was established in 1970 with a main focus on the construction industry. Today, the group employs a workforce of 50,000, has a total asset base exceeding $2.7bn and offers a range of services ranging from construction to transport, heavy lifting and industrial.

As an Abu Dhabi-based firm the Al Jaber Group has continued to benefit from the government’s tremendous oil wealth that has allowed the emirate to continue investing in its infrastructure. Its subsidy Al Jaber Transport & General Contracting for example has completed more than 5,000 km of road construction in Abu Dhabi alone.

According to recent reports the group plans to raise $200m through export credit agency facility and is planning to tap the bond market this year to fund its expansion plans. The firm has already successfully raised $200m over the past two years.

Al Jaber also recently awarded a AED1.1bn construction contract for the Abu Dhabi and ConocoPhillips Shah gas project.

Al Murri’s daughter Fatima Al Jaber is the group’s COO and executive of the company’s board. In 2007, she was voted the seventh most influential woman in the Arab world by Forbes Arabia.
