If it is cheaper and offers faster broadband bandwidth, then why did you refuse? I am trying to understand why would one not want faster internet even when it is priced cheaper than what they are paying now.

Not sure why he calls himself a consultant, If Etisalat wishes to buy controlling stake in Zain, then its very simple they have to buy it without Zain Saudi unit or has to have an agreement that Zain will sell its stake to other investors/operators before Etisalat takes over. Another way if commercially feasable which I doubt is to merge Mibily with Zain which would not make economic sense. In this case the regulator can introduce a new licence in the future. These are all possible scenarios.

Etisalat calls me every week asking if I'd like to go for eLife, and I politely refuse. They then tell me how much I'm paying for my land line and Al Shamil, and then ask if eLife is better as it costs less and offer 'greater' bandwidth? I politely refuse again.

i agree with you entirely monika. as since the recession began the first thing to be slashed from a corporate account was the travel budget. indeed many businesses have scut thier tavke budgets completely. yes business is increasing but in terms of business trsvel will not be the same as pre recession. dont beleive anyone who tell you other.

Perhaps it is how the money is being handled, that is the problem? A mass co-ordination for the people and how monies are spent might alieviate some of the suffering. I have not heard nor read any plans to relocate or provide temporary respite for these poor people. Money yes, but some organized humanitarian help would prove valuable.
This is my humble opinion and not meant to disrespect any person or government.

I don't see why 8 servers are needed. This is an extremely complex configuation for an organization with just 35,000 students. I might want 8 servers if I was a bank processing 35,000 transactions a day - but this task could have been accomplished with just a couple of medium strength Linux servers.
It also seems odd that an international organization would expend tremendous resources to purchase and maintain a system that is designed in large part to comply with American rules and regulations.
The UAE should consider implementing a solution that does not conform to the American philosophy of high cost and low performance.

@Oli69 Didn't you say the same about metro few years back? I personally know few well paid execs using metro to travel to work from Marina/JBR/JLT not just labourers. And if labourers use them as well, I think it is good as they are just humans like us. If you ain't going to use it, that's fine. But please stop cursing at infrastructure developments in our country. The world is going though some rough financial times and am sure especially where you come from as well, but when the time is right, it will all happen and it will help a lot of us although maybe not you, but it might be you as well. Please be polite. We appreciate your help in our country though.
