Mukesh ‘Micky’ Jagtiani is the Gulf region’s most influential Indian expat for the second year running, according to latest Arabian Business Expat Power 50, published on August 16th.
The Landmark group chairman is among the ten Indians that feature in the 50 most influential expatriates in GCC region, according to the annual ranking.
There are more US nationals than any other on the list – Americans account for 12 of the entrants. The UK has nine entries in the list, just one less than India.
Ranked at seven on the list – up 12 places since last year – self-made billionaire Jagtiani is the head of Landmark group and is one of the most powerful figures in the Middle East retail industry.
He is currently in the process of securing the popular Fitness First gymnasium franchise for the Gulf region, to add to his interests in fashion, footwear, cosmetics, leisure, food, hotels and electronics, logistics and distribution.
There are a total of 14 nationalities represented in this year’s list, working in 13 sectors across the six GCC states.
Arabian Business has excluded any Arabs from the list as they would qualify for the Arab Power List, published annually.
